The Winners

English Cocker Spaniel

Purina has inducted two heroic English Cocker Spaniels
into its Animal Hall of Fame.
Here are their stories:

Calli
1990

Grand Forks, British Columbia     Cali, a one-year-old English Cocker Spaniel, owned by Barry and Sharon Savitskoff, refused to leave the side of five-year-old Cassie Savitskoff who had wandered away from her campsite. Cassie was lost for three days in the woods near the B.C.-Washington border. Cali stayed with her young owner, kept her warm and protected her from danger until they were both discovered by searchers.

Benjie
1979

Elora, Ontario      Benjie, an English Cocker Spaniel assisted in the rescue of a young climber who was helplessly dangling from the Elora Gorge. Benjie attracted the attention of his owner, Don Guthrie and led him from his home to the cliff where they rescued the teenager who had become entangled in the ropes.
